Dizzyingly vibrant, Opal has been said to hold the color of every gemstone inside of it. Called “the Hummingbird Stone” in ancient Mayan, the vibrant and ephemeral colors of this magical gem have captured imaginations for centuries, drawing comparisons to all the most mystical creations of nature. But with all this attention, of course, there has also been a bit of scandal.
